Product Description

Classroom Volcano Lesson

Right now as you are reading this, there are approximately 20 volcanoes erupting around the world.  Many of the eruptions that occur happen under the ocean where often times we aren’t even aware they are happening.  Volcanoes form when magma from within the Earth’s upper mantle makes its way to the surface.  Once it reaches the surface, hot lava, toxic gas and ash are pushed miles into the air.  With every volcanic eruption, the Volcano continues to grow higher and higher.

In the Volcanoes activity students will:

  • Build their very own volcano and simulate an eruption
  • Identify the layers of the Earth and study how volcanoes change the surface of the Earth
  • Identify the parts that make up a volcano
  • Learn about the precautions that must be taken when living near an active volcano

Each student will receive their own materials to construct a volcano and simulate an eruption with the assistance and supervision of a teacher.  Student worksheets are provided for each student to record their observations and findings.

The Teacher’s Guide provides background information on Volcanoes as well as topic points for class discussion.

Each Classroom Kit comes with a Teacher's Guide, Student Worksheets and a 25 sets of lab materials for each activity. The Teacher's guides are written in such a way that any instructor, if the lesson plans are followed, is able to teach every lesson on a professional level. 25 copies of the student lesson plans are conveniently provided for each student activity. The kits are designed so that an educator opens the box and can begin teaching.

The Classroom Kits are packaged so that each student receives their own materials to perform the activity's investigation. The lab materials are separated, for each student, to minimize preparation time in the classroom. All kits include the necessary materials to perform the activity. No outside materials (with the exception of water in some activities) are required. The kits even include common classroom materials if the activity requires them such as crayons, pencils, or tape.

The Homeschool Kits contain a teacher manual, student activity worksheets, and lab activities packaged for one student.
